We seem to say it every Friday, but this weekend really is a busy one for the club, with a huge amount going on over the next three days.
The action will begin on Friday evening with two matches in the Windmill Whack Women’s Edition at Upminster Park. The Howden Heat will take on Root 66’ers on Pitch One while on Pitch Two, Mullis & Peake Magic will face Burley Bandits. After three rounds of games, it is the Heat and 66’ers occupying the top two spots in the table, but that could all change over the course of the remaining matches.
Of course, Friday night junior training will also be taking place as normal and we request that with the sun once again shining brightly, all parents and guardians ensure their children bring plenty of water with them and wear an appropriate hat/cap if possible. Wholeslice (at Roots) will once again be on site taking orders for their legendary pizzas while the FWC Quarter Final and the Roses Vitality Blast T20 match will be shown on the screens.
Wholeslice have kindly offered to assist with the disposal of pizza boxes from this week, so once you have finished your pizzas if you could please take your boxes back to the ordering table so they can be disposed of. PLEASE NOTE, ACCESS TO THE PAVILION AND BAR IS FOR MEMBERS ONLY AND YOUR PITCHERO APP WILL NEED TO BE SHOWN TO USE THE FACILITIES.
There is also a big game this evening for the U14 Ultras as they take on Chingford in the Last 16 of the Sir Alastair Cook Trophy. Upminster won four out of four in the group stages of the competition, but Chingford will provide tough opposition with the game starting at Coopers at 5.30pm.
Last Saturday was a brilliant day for the club with six wins and two draws being recorded, and everyone will be hoping that continues tomorrow. The 1st XI travel to Orsett & Thurrock for what is always a tough encounter while the 2nd XI welcome Billericay to RM14 as they look to continue their good form of the last few weeks. The 3rd, 4th and 6th XIs will be hoping to stay in their respective title races while the Friendly XI return to Herongate & Ingrave after a few weeks away!!
Saturday night will see TikTok sensation DJ G Smallz appearing at the Pavilion. This event is a ticketed event with tickets (£5 each) available on Pitchero.
Hopefully there will not be too many sore heads on Sunday as there are big games for the club all over Essex!! The 1st XI will be at Billericay for Finals Day of the Essex League T20 competition. This is the first time the club have reached this stage since 2018 and full details for the day can be found here.
The Women’s 1st XI will continue their title challenge when they take on Woodford Wells while the Matchplay XI travel to Shenfield knowing a win will secure their place in the knockout stages of the competition. Back at Upminster Park the Sunday League XI, who progressed to the final of the Sunday League T20 competition last night, will be looking to keep up their own title challenge as they welcome London Desperados. There are also nine other junior games taking place across the day.
