After three hours of selections and trading at BrewDog Upminster, the squads for Windmill Whack X have been finalised. Wicket keeper Ross Taylor was the first pick of the night, with the star players the first to be drafted, while Ollie Dignam was snapped up by the Kushoom Bugh Tigers at the start of the Young Junior player section. The Tigers also had first pick in the Older Junior draft and opted to take Fenton Everingham, while 51 players were in the "Main Draft" although some of these were on the move against their will at the end of the evening in the Poachers Round.
We must thank our hosts, and sponsors of one of our new franchises, BrewDog, for such a great evening. Below we take a look at how each squad is made up for the summer ahead.
GRIFFIN GRANDMASTERS
The captaincy team of James Burchell and Max Carter-Miller opted for a mix of age and experience with their star picks, taking on Ross Taylor, Sam Twine and Nathan Woods, although the hastily arranged and controversial Poachers Round saw them bring in Zoran Suneel and move Twine out. The batting looks strong with a number of promising young players selected, while Rob Bannister and Shrey Shah offer some experience and know-how. The Grandmasters also used the Poachers Round cleverly in the main draft round, brining in Joshan Narbheram from the Mullis & Peake Monarchs. Full squad as follows:

KUSHOOM BUGH TIGERS
The youthful captaincy team of Jamie Green and Callum Berry had a clear strategy for the evening, looking to utilise their contacts within the hockey club, and their star picks also looked very strong when they picked up Gus Philpot and Whack legend Harry Jenkins, but they were to lose both of these in the Poachers Round (and ended up with experienced duo Ollie Peck and James Evans). The Poachers Round also cost them their first pick from the main draft, three time winner Paul Middlemiss heading to the Monarchs, but they have a lot of quality in their squad, including a current international in Ethan Berry, and added a bit of late muscle when they picked up John French and Tony Graves. Full squad as follows:
Jamie Green *
Calum Berry *
James Evans *
Oliver Peck *
Oliver Dignam

GOVANI MAESTROS
Jordan Tolan and Paul Burley were most active in the pre-planned deals department, and they ended the evening with a strong looking squad. The Poachers Round saw them somehow end up with Gus Philpot and Alan Ison to go alongside Ollie Burley. Adam Overton and Ian Munn give some experience, alongside franchise owner Karim Govani, while the biggest cheer of the evening was reserved for the picking of Patrick Gulvin, one of a number of promising young players in the squad. Full squad as follows:

BREWDOG BRAVES
Rob Mack and Alex Ward were in charge for one of our new sides, and our hosts for the evening, and their star players look solid with Harry Jenkins arriving in the Poachers Round to go alongside Kiran Kullar and the enigmatic Scott Fisher. Alfie Taplin is an exciting pick, and adds a fifth potential keeper to the squad, while a lot of interesting characters were picked up late in the evening including Steve Mack, Kevin Roome, Russ Savidge, Jake Eade and the Browns, Dave and Ryan. Full squad as follows:
Alex Ward *
Bobby Mack
Harry Jenkins *
Kiran Kullar *
Scott Fisher*

MULLIS & PEAKE MONARCHS
Rob Healy was without right-hand man Dan Tyler for the evening, and the skipper's approach confused many onlookers, before he somehow ended up with a strong looking squad. If their star players are available (Nicky Ison, Nick O'Dell and Sam Twine) then the Monarchs could go well, as they are backed up by a host of exciting young players. Another squad with enough keepers for five squads. Full squad as follows:
Rob Healy*
Dan Tyler
Nick O'Dell*
Sam Twine *
Nicky Ison*
