Squads to be reshaped for 2022 event

New squads, for the third edition of the Windmill Whack Women's edition, are set to be unveiled at this Friday's launch event (7.00pm at the Clubhouse).

With a number of young players having progressed through the junior girls teams over the past two seasons, the pool of players available for the competition has expanded for 2022, and this should make the event even more exciting and closely fought than the first two editions.

The Apple Finance Phoenix won the 2021 competition to give franchise owner Kevin Heazle a men's and women's win double, and they will once again be led by Jemma Creswell for this year's event.  The Phoenix also won the inaugural edition of the competition in 2020 (playing then as the Sharks) so Creswell and Heazle will be hoping the young players in this year's squad can help take them to a third consecutive crown.

Ladies Club Captain Vicky Waters will be looking to go one better in 2022, than in 2021 and 2020, as she continues to skipper the Burley Bandits.  Waters and her side have been runners-up twice in a row and her new look side will be wanting to at least make the Final this time around to give themselves a chance of finally claiming the title.

It was an inconsistent campaign last year for the Ace Avengers, and captain Angela Green will be looking for some more consistent results this summer.  The Avengers will be looking for some good performances from their new young players, a number of whom impressed with their performances over the winter in the Havering Junior Indoor League.

Natasha Munn will skipper Tolan's T-Birds, and they are another side who will be wanting to improve on last year's showing and make a push to be present on Finals Day.  Munn can be sure to get some advice from husband Ian, the club's 4th XI captain, and from franchise owner Jordan Tolan who will want his side to improve on their 2021 results.

The only way is up for the Chairman's Chiefs, and captain Charlotte Peck will be wanting the new younger members of her side to put in some strong performances and help avoid a repeat of last year's bottom place finish.  Franchise owner Ollie Peck demands high standards of his sides, and he will want his women's team to try and emulate the Chairman's Choice, the most successful side in the men's competition to date.

Squads for the season will be confirmed at Friday's event, so please keep an eye on the club's social media accounts during and after the evening to see who will be playing where in 2022.

There will be a number of drinks offers running throughout the evening, including doubles for singles on Malibu and East Coast at £2.50 per pint.
