WINDMILL WHACK WOMEN'S EDITION

WINDMILL WHACK WOMEN'S EDITION

Paul Middlemiss8 Jul - 15:10

Race for final spots hots up

Howden Heat have one foot in the final of the 2025 Windmill Whack Women's Edition after the latest round of games last Friday evening.  The Heat overcame reigning champions Burley Bandits to pick up their third win from four games played, and it would now need an unusual set of results to see them fail to finish in the top two and miss out on a place in the Final.  It was the Heat's second win over the Bandits this season, to go alongside a victory over the Mullis & Peake Monarchs, while they have suffered just one defeat when they lost out to the Root 66'ers.

For the Bandits, Friday's loss was their third defeat in four games and they will now need to win both of their remaining two games and hope other results go their way if they are to climb into the top two.  The 2024 champs were heavily beaten by the Mullis & Peake Monarchs in their previous match, and they will now need to overcome the Monarchs second time around as well as repeating their win earlier in the season over the Root 66'ers.

Locked together on 12 points, but separated by a small net run rate difference are the Mullis and Peake Monarchs and Root 66'ers.  Both sides have picked up two wins from four games so far, but the Monarchs big win over the Bandits means they have the superior run rate at this stage.  The two teams have faced one another twice this season already, with both sides picking up one win each, so there is clearly very little to choose between these two teams.

We would once again like to thank all of our generous sponsors for their support of this year's competition: Howden Global Insurance Group, Mullis & Peake LLP, Roots of Upminster, Burley Transport;
