Upminster won the toss and elected to bowl with Leigh careful against the opening bowlers of Jordan Tigg and Jonno Murphy who had bowled out Ilford the week before. Inbetween the solid start of Leigh reaching 70/0 Sissen suffered a injury which prevented him from bowling. With spinner Gopal Sagoo coming on instead who quickly took the wicket of Morgan for 33.
Opening batsman that day Hammond remembers 'Once the 1st wicket went the other batsman couldn't get in and stay in with their other opener (Threadgold) who got the bulk of their runs' The Leigh opening batsman and extras scored 115 out of the 149 runs scored.

In reply Upminster lost early wickets of Ward & Leach before Hammond and Joe Wyatt rebuilt the innings. 'I actually batted pretty well that day, got to 44 and then got out after skying the ball up probably trying to smash it out the park to get to 50. It was a day of collapses and we fell away badly' A number of batsman fell away for single figure scores and with 8 runs to win Roome fell caught and bowled to leave the side 9 down 'Buff was not keen to bat unless needed but he ended up hobbling out there and hitting the first 2 balls he faced for 4 and then hobbling back off!'
