Upminster have announced a 12-player squad for the Nick Browne Testimonial Match against an Essex CCC XI on 21st September.
The side will be skippered by Aaron Beard who will be one of six debutants in the Upminster side (although Beard has of course played in the fixture for Essex on many occasions). Beard will be joined by Saturday 1st XI regulars, and multiple Benefit Match appearance makers, such as Kiran Kullar, Max Carter-Miller and Tom Daniels, as well as Shafiq Rahman who will make a remarkable 16th appearance in this fixture. Mo Ahmad will get the chance to show his ability at the top of the order after a fine season with the bat, while Gus Philpot will make his first appearance in this contest after an excellent debut summer with the club. Callum Berry made a century in last year’s match, and he will make his fifth appearance against Essex, meaning he will be just one behind his father Andrew who represented the club six times in this fixture.
Keya Shah has been in fine form for our women’s and girls sides this season, taking more than 30 wickets, and she will make her first appearance in this match, as will Felicity Russell who has made six half centuries this summer whilst scoring over 700 runs. Oliver Burley has enjoyed a breakthrough season which ended with him becoming a 1st XI regular and earning a call up to the squad, while Aalok Latey is rewarded with a place in the side for his efforts captaining the 5th XI and running one of our junior sides for a number of seasons.
