Upminster’s U11 Girls have claimed the Essex Softball Smash title after winning all three of their games at County Finals Day at Writtle CC this morning (Friday).

Upminster qualified for Finals Day having won the Central District qualifying competition earlier in the season and they began their bid for the County title with a 40 run win over Frenford who were representing the Met District. Upminster followed that up with a narrow 15 run win over Kelvedon & Feering from the North District, and they then claimed the crown with a win over South District representatives Orsett & Thurrock.

It is the first time Upminster have won this event at this age group and shows the huge progress made by this squad, and all of our girls’ squads, over the past 12 months. Many thanks to Essex Cricket in the Community for their organisation of the event and to Writtle CC for being brilliant hosts as always.

There could be more silverware to come for our girls’ sides in the coming weeks with FOUR sides through to the finals of their Central Cup competitions which will take place on 30th August and 6th September.
