The Windmill Walk challenge concluded on Saturday, and after more than 18 weeks of walking it was John Woods who held off the challenge of Derek Petrie to finish top of the leaderboard. Woods completed just under three million steps during the challenge, an average of more than 23k per day, to finish narrowly ahead of Petrie who also finished on just under three million steps. Kerry Hodges came in third place with Angela Ueckermann in fourth and Angela Green in fifth. Ueckermann had topped the last weekly table with an astonishing 268k steps!! In total 96 participants completed one million steps during the challenge, which was the original target, and 17 of those completed more than two million.
In the team event it was no surprise to see the Ace Avengers finish top of the table. With four of the top five from the individual leaderboard in their squad the Avengers had to much for everyone else and finished way ahead of the Chairman's Choice who were runners-up. Long time leaders the Kushoom Bugh Tigers were third, just ahead of the Burley Bandits and the Sharks.
The Windmill Walk was set up to encourage all participants to try and walk one million steps between the 1st January and the start of the league season yesterday (Saturday). The Walk was run through Count. It, which is an increasingly popular fitness tracker challenge platform in the UK, and thanks must go to all of the Team at Count. It for their assistance and help with the event.
