As we move into the second half of the season there is no let up in the action with another busy weekend for all sections of the club.
The action will begin on Friday evening with two matches in the Windmill Whack Women’s Edition. The Howden Heat will take on Burley Bandits on Pitch One while on Pitch Two, Mullis & Peake Magic will face Root 66’ers. All four sides are level in the table at this stage with one win and one loss each so far, so tonight’s results will have a huge say in who reaches Finals Day in September.
Of course, Friday night junior training will also be taking place as normal and we request that with the sun once again shining brightly, all parents and guardians ensure their children bring plenty of water with them and wear an appropriate hat/cap if possible. Wholeslice (at Roots) will once again be on site taking orders for their legendary pizzas while the FWC Quarter Final and the Roses Vitality Blast T20 match will be shown on the screens.
Wholeslice have kindly offered to assist with the disposal of pizza boxes from this week, so once you have finished your pizzas if you could please take your boxes back to the ordering table so they can be disposed of. WE ALSO ASK THAT ALL PARENTS AND CHILDREN USE THE MANY BINS PROVIDED INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE PAVILION TO DISPOSE OF THEIR LITTER OR TAKE THEIR RUBBISH HOME WITH THEM AT THE END OF THE EVENING.
It’s a big game at Upminster Park on Saturday as the top of the table 1st XI take on second in the table Aztecs in a mouthwatering Division One contest. The 2nd XI will also be looking to keep up their recent momentum when they travel to leaders Chelmsford and it’s also a huge afternoon for the 3rd XI who currently sit in second place in the table and welcome leaders and neighbours Harold Wood to fortress Coopers. And then in the evening there is the small matter of England v Norway in the FIFA World Cup being screened live at Pavilion!! Will the Three Lions take another step towards ending the 60 year wait for glory??
The action continues on Sunday with the Women’s 1st XI welcoming Colchester & East Essex to Upminster Park whilst the Women’s 2nd XI go to Benfleet. The Friendly XI are also back in action on Sunday as they make the short trip to Harrow Lodge Park to take on Hornchurch. There are also eight junior games taking place across the day.
