Friends Group looking forward to sharing plans at Sunday's big game

Upminster Cricket Club are pleased that the Friends of Upminster Park will be joining us at this Sunday’s Benefit Match against an Essex CCC XI.

The group will be assisting club members with litter picking during the afternoon and they will also be hoping to engage with club members and members of the public to discuss their aspirations and plans for Upminster Park. The Friends will be situated on the Corbet’s Tey Road side of the ground, next to the tea tent and beer tent, so why not pop along for a chat during the game.

Ahead of Sunday’s big game a spokesperson for the Friends of Upminster Park said: “Friends of Upminster Park is a volunteer-led community group founded to support and improve the park for the benefit of local residents. We engage with park users, local families and park management to help keep the park cleaner, greener and welcoming for everyone. Our activities include community volunteering events such as litter picking, planting, railing painting and environmental improvements. By encouraging local people to care for their shared green space, we aim to build community pride, improve wellbeing and help protect the park for future generations.

“Our emerging masterplan sets out a range of aspirations for enhancing the park, which were developed in consultation with the community, including an improved play area and outdoor learning facility, a nature trail and more biodiversity-friendly planting, a community garden, and improved seating facilities.

"Come and see us at the match to view the plans, share your ideas and find out how you can get involved.”

Sunday’s game gets under way at 2.30pm with cricket related activities taking place on the ground from 9.30am
