We were hoping for a Super Sunday with a number of big games for the club, but unfortunately things didn't go as hoped for with defeats for the 1st XI and the Matchplay XI.

At Billericay, it was Loughton who won the toss and decided to bat first in the semi final of the Essex League T20. Max Carter-Miller produced his best spell of the season to put Upminster on top early on before Ollie Burley (3-21) grabbed three quick wickets and JJ Smuts removed Alan Jones to leave Loughton 75-6. The experienced Bilal Butt combined with Aayush Patel to take Loughton into three figures without further loss but Smuts (2-30) and Carter-MIller (4-21) returned to the attack to put Upminster back in charge before Jamie Green claimed the last wicket as Loughton were all out for 126. Upminster were in big trouble at 48-5 in reply before Aaron Beard joined Ian Russell and their partnership gave Upminster brief hope. Beard had made 21 when he was dismissed by Butt and the same bowler bowled Burley first ball as Loughton closed in on victory. Russell fell for 18 and although Green and Carter-Miller kept pushing to the end it was not enough as Upminster ended on 99-8 to lose by 26 runs. It was a great run to Finals Day for the side and they will now focus on trying to clinch a return to the Hamro Foundation Essex League Premier Division later in the season.

The Matchplay side missed out on a place in the knockout stages of the Trevor Bailey Matchplay Shield after a heavy defeat at Shenfield. Needing a win or a narrow loss to progress Upminster decided to bowl first upon winning the toss but they then saw Yash Mahindroo and Joey Newbould put on 68 for the first wicket in 11 overs before Ollie Clarke trapped Newbould in front for 40. Mahindroo and William Ovenden then really took the game away from Upminster with a second wicket stand of 149 which was compiled in good time. Mahindroo went for 88 and Ovenden was unlucky not to bring up three figures when Ewan Lowrie dismissed him for 99 as Upminster fought back with Shenfield falling from 278-2 to be bowled out for 302, mainly thanks to Lowrie who returned very impressive figures of 5-53. Jude Hearn picked up two early wickets as Upminster slid to 28-3 in reply before Will Court and Lowrie briefly rallied. They added 27 before Court was run out and that was the beginning of the end for Upminster as wickets began to fall quickly. Lowrie continued the fight and batted excellently to make 41 from 37 balls but he was ninth out and the innings was soon wrapped up as Upminster were all out for 115. The margin of defeat meant Upminster finished third in the group and therefore won't progress to the next round. We wish Shenfield all the best in the knockout stages. 

A brilliant century from Kiwi Star Emma Black helped the Women's 1st XI stay in the EWPL Division One title race with a win at Woodford Wells. Black and Harri Goodey shared a massive opening stand of 194 in just 25 overs to put Upminster into a strong position with Black bringing up her ton from 81 balls before falling a deliveries later for an excellent 105. Goodey was run out for 74 before Felicity Russell (30) and captain Zoe Quested helped lift the total to 282-7. That total always looked too much for Wells and it looked even further away when they fell to 44-5 with Goodey picking up two of the wickets to fall. Bea Knuckey battled hard for Wells to make 22 but after her dismissal the end came quickly. There were two wickets in an over for Jami Armes and three wickets for Paige Roche as the home side were all out for 69 meaning Upminster stay in pursuit of Hutton at the top of the table. 

The Sunday League XI also remain in title contention after a five wicket win over London Desperados at Upminster Park. Shrey Shah was the star of the day for Upminster as he claimed amazing figures of 5-17 from six overs to leave Desperados in huge trouble at 46-7. Varun Prabhakar (60) and Mahesh Mohanan (32) did their best to turn things around for the visitors, but Ryan Oakes (2-28) ended the 92 run partnership and Desperados were bowled out for 142. Matthew Ingleson then anchored the Upminster reply with a solid innings, and he received good support from Zoran Suneel, Rob Healy, Stan Moore and Liam Robertson who all made double figures. Ingleson fell for 48 but Thomas Cargill and fittingly captain Michael Pedrick saw their side to a five wicket win. 

There were also a number of junior games which took place throughout the day with wins for the U11 Girls (two wins in a busy day), the U12 Ultras and U12 Ultimate and losses for the U8 Ultras, U9 Ultimate, U13 Ultimate and U15 Ultimate.
