All senior games washed out without a ball being bowled

For the first time in many years, all of Upminster’s senior games were washed out at the weekend, without a single ball being bowled.

Heavy overnight rain meant an early Saturday morning call off for the 2nd XI game against Wanstead and Snaresbrook, the 3rd XI’s top of the table clash with Brentwood, and the 4th XI’s visit to Hutton, as well as the 5th XI friendly with Ilford. Then later in the morning the 1st XI’s crucial encounter with Loughton also fell foul to the weather. Only a handful of games across the SNEL programme saw any action, and only one game, in the North of the County, saw enough cricket for a result to be declared.

More rain early on Sunday morning saw the Sunday League encounter with Waltham called off, followed shortly by the Friendly XI’s visit to Rettendon.

Action will hopefully resume this weekend, with just six rounds of SNEL games now remaining.
