Having looked like they were building up some momentum in recent weeks, the 1st XI fell to defeat at Aztecs with a below par performances at St Chads Park. Having decided to bat first Upminster meandered to 38-2 before Adam Wheater joined opener Mo Ahmad and gave the innings some much needed impetus. Ahmad fell for 39 just as it looked like Upminster were getting on top and Wheater fell soon after for 49 to leave his side 115-4. Tom Daniels and KIran Kullar needed to rebuild and they did this, but with the overs ticking by Aztecs retained control. Daniels made 28 and Kullar 30, but Upminster were left trying to scramble to get to the 200 mark and they eventually ended on 194-9. Dineth Don and Kalim Khan claimed four wickets each for the home side. Max Carter MIller struck early in the Aztecs reply to give Upminster hope, but Mo Faraz and Don were both in fine form and began to take the game away from Upminster. Gus Philpot removed Faraz for 74 and Aaron Beard picked up two quick wickets to give Upminster hope, but Don remained and finished 66 not out as Aztecs won by five wickets with more than two overs to spare.
It was a similar story at Upminster Park where the 2nd XI lost out to Wanstead and Snaresbrook. All of Upminster's top seven made double figures but nobody was able to go on and make the big score that would have made the difference. Aki Rahman made 34 and Mit Shah continued his good form with 43, but Haaris Raza and Marley Smith picked up three wickets each to keep Upminster in check. Terry Wyatt's 26 kept Upminster heading towards 200 and Rob Healy made 48 not out, but Upminster fell from 204-6 to 215 all out. Ollie Burley dismissed Aryan Ahmed early on but Rod Martin and Pavan Patel put together an excellent second wicket partnership that all but won the game. Aki Rahman finally made the breakthrough when he claimed the scalp of Martin for 52 but Patel ploughed on relentlessly. Ollie Peck claimed two late wickets but Patel ended unbeaten on a brilliant 113 to see his side to a six wicket with plenty of time in hand.
There were no such issues for the 3rd XI who produced a commanding performance to beat morning leaders Brentwood and take over at the top of the Premier Division. Upminster chose to bowl first on an interesting looking track and their three pronged seam attack took full advantage of the conditions. Veterans Andrew Berry and Mark D'Cruz both picked up three wickets while the more youthful Ryan Oakes claimed a brace as Brentwood collapsed to 42-6. Christian Mootoo and the experienced Dave Balroop showed some resistance to hold up Upminster, but Joseph Brooks claimed 2-10 at the end of the Brentwood innings as they were shot out for just 67. Upminster's chase was not without a few alarms itself, but 24 from Dan Simpson and 16 from Michael Peddrick helped see them to a crucial six wicket win.
It was also a great afternoon for the 4th XI as they picked up a crucial win over Buckhurst Hill at Coopers. An early run out helped Upminster on their way and Shrey Shah and Ewan Lowrie then reduced Hill to 31-4. Jun-Le Shukla (26) and Ashley White (52) put on 89 for the fifth wicket before falling to Rob Mack and Nathan Brown respectively and the two spinners then proceeded to turn the game back Upminster's way as they worked their way through the lower order. Mack claimed 3-56 and Brown 3-26 as Hill were bowled out for 173. White, Shukla and Suriya Rao then had Upminster in huge trouble at 38-3, before captain Matt Ingleson and Matt Burch started to turn things around. They put on 65 before Burch fell for 20, but Ingleson found another willing partner in Harry Lawes. Ingleson brought up his half century as Upminster closed in on victory while Lawes looked in good form after a few weeks out. Ingleson ended on 91 not out, a real captain's knock, while Lawes finished unbeaten on 30 as Upminster won by six wickets.
The 5th XI also picked up a win as they overcame Benfleet 4s on the next pitch at Coopers. Aedan Daly removed visiting captain Russ Plumb before skipper Aalok Latey produced his best spell of the season as Benfleet collapsed to 113-8. Lee Wheeler and Gary Brown dug in for Benfleet to try and get them out of trouble but with Latey claiming 4-18 and Dylan Narbheram picking up 2-26 the visitors were bowled out for 148. Lewis Munn, who had picked up three excellent catches in the Benfleet innings, fell early in the Upminster innings, but his father Ian along with Stewart Hammond put Upminster in control with a second wicket stand of 118. Hammond eventually fell for 55 and Munn Snr went for an excellent 77 but Upminster coasted to a seven wicket success.
It was a strange afternoon for the 6th XI who arrived at Ilford Catholics only to find the opposition had unfortunately had to concede the game. A friendly was played and Thomas Brabin made an excellent century for Upminster, while Will Court made 44 as Upminster picked up a victory.
A batting collapse saw the 7th XI fall to a defeat against Rankins. Karim Govani rolled back the years with an excellent opening spell to claim 2-16 and put Upminster on top. The Narbherams, Anay and Sanjay (3-42) then reduced Rankins to 84-6 but Sandeep Gangireddy (33) and Adam Huggins brought their side back into it with a stand of 40. It was then left to Eddie Waters to come back into the Upminster attack and run through the lower order, picking up 3-14 as Rankins were dismissed for 159. Upminster soon found themselves 22-2 in reply but Joe Hibell and Jack Hayward got their side back in the game with a third wicket partnership of 64. Hibell fell for 27 and his dismissal unfortunately triggered a collapse as Rankins took control. Hayward remained and looked in fine form but when he fell for 44 Upminster's chances went with him and they fell to 130 all out.
