SANJAY NARBHERAM WINS KEITH MARTIN AWARD

SANJAY NARBHERAM WINS KEITH MARTIN AWARD

Paul Middlemiss

Sponsorship Secretary recognised for amazing work in last two years

Sanjay Narbheram was named as the hugely deserving winner of the Keith Martin Club Person of the Year Award at Saturday night's Annual Dinner and Dance. Sanjay has made a huge impact to the club's finances in the last two years with his amazing work as the club's Sponsorship Secretary. Building partnerships with a number of local businesses, Sanjay has helped to boost the club's income, enabling the club to progress with a number of projects, and also increased the club's presence and visibility in the local community. As well as his formal role Sanjay has for a number of years assisted with scoring duties at junior and senior games and helped to run some of our junior sides. Also nominated for the award were Andrew Berry, for his work as the club's Treasurer and around the redeveloped Pavilion, Karen Burley for her amazing work as our Social Secretary, and Kevin Roome for his unstinting efforts with the club's website and all things IT over a number of years.

The Gwynne Mack Spirit of Cricket Award was won by Henry Hanlon. This unique award recognises a young player at the club who has demonstrated the Spirit of Cricket on or off the pitch over the past year. For a number of seasons Henry has been a huge help around the club and this year he stepped up to captain our Saturday Friendly XI. By giving up his own opportunity to play at a higher level Henry enabled a number of our younger juniors to gain their first experience of adult cricket. Henry always plays the game the right way and sets a great example to other youngsters at the club, and we are sure Gwynne would approve of him being awarded this accolade.

All of our 2026 playing awards were also announced during the evening and there were a number of deserving nominations for every award, reflecting the hugely successful season the club has enjoyed. JJ Smuts was nominated for two playing awards and scooped the President's Batter of the Year while Women's 1st XI star Harri Goodey (pictured) was shortlisted for three playing awards and claimed the Women's Batter of the Year honour.

Huge thanks are due to Karen Burley and her team for organising such a wonderful evening at the Ingrebourne Links Golf & Country Club. It was a great way to celebrate the 2026 season, one of the most successful in the club's history, and recognise the individual and collective achievements throughout the club, and Karen once again ensured everyone had a great night.
