JUNIOR COUNTY COMP DRAWS

Seven Upminster sides find out their group stage opponents

With the season now just a few weeks away the draws have taken place for the seven junior county competitions the club's sides will take part in.

Last year was an historic one for our U12 Ultras who became the first side from the club to claim an open county competition victory when they beat Loughton in the final of the Brian Taylor Trophy in August. Hopes are high that this year's U12s will also enjoy a good run in the same event, and they have been drawn in Group 4 of the competition. In that group they will face Brentwood, Hutton, Billericay and Hadleigh & Thundersley.

It is 19 years since Upminster reached the final of the Matchplay (U16s), but they came close in 2024 as they made it all the way to the semi-finals. Upminster, who were also runners-up in 1996 and semi-finalists in 2019 will open their 2026 campaign in Group 4 on 21st June with a trip to Billericay before welcoming Wickford to Upminster Park a week later. They will then host neighbours Harold Wood on 5th July before completing the group stage on 19th July when they travel to Shenfield.

This year’s U14 squad have a good record of reaching the later stages in a variety of competitions, and they will be hoping that continues in the Sir Alastair Cook Trophy. They have been drawn in Group 4 of the 2026 competition and will face familiar opponents Hutton and Springfield as well as Benfleet and Hadleigh & Thundersley. Upminster made the last eight of the competition in both 2024 and 2025 but will be hoping to go at least one step further this season and make Finals Day.

One team who did make Finals Day last season was the U19 Ultras in the Ravi Bopara Trophy, and they will be looking for a repeat in 2026. They have also been drawn in Group 4 where they will take on Billericay, Hadleigh & Thundersley and Basildon & Pitsea.

It was 2022 when Upminster's U13 Girls claimed the Cordelia Griffith Cup and in 2026 they have once again been drawn in the West Group where they will face games against Benfleet, Bancroft Lions, Buckhurst Hill, Frenford, Hadleigh & Thundersley, Hornchurch Athletic, Wanstead & Snaresbrook and Woodford Wells.

Upminster performed well in last year's Catherine Dalton Cup (U15 Girls), and they have also been placed in the West Group for this year's tournament. They will face tough opposition as they take on Bancroft Lions, Buckhurst Hill, Frenford, Orsett & Thurrock, Redbridge, Wanstead & Snaresbrook and Woodford Wells.

In the Kelly Castle Cup, the U11 Girls competition, there are three groups this season and Upminster have been placed in the Bodium Group. They will face local derbies against Hornchurch Athletic and Hutton as well as taking on Orsett & Thurrock and Writtle.
