With the sun continuing to shine and the mercury reaching record levels there is another busy weekend ahead at UCC.
The action starts on Friday evening, with the third round of matches in the Windmill Whack Women’s Edition taking place at Upminster Park. Both games start at 7.00pm with Burley Bandits taking on Mullis & Peake Magic and Howden Heat facing the Root 66’ers.
Junior training is also on as planned, with some small adjustments to some sessions due to the heat. The Year 1 and Year 2 Boys sessions will be reduced to 60 minutes from 75 minutes (now 5.30pm-6.30pm). Other sessions will go ahead as normal but the location on the ground of some sessions may change at short notice. Extra drinks breaks will also be incorporated into all sessions. We ask that all children who do train bring along plenty of fluids, an appropriate hat/cap and apply sun cream before the session. No child is obliged to attend training tomorrow night (or on any other occasion) and if anyone feels uncomfortable with the conditions or is feeling unwell, then they should not attend Friday’s session this week.
The Pavilion and bar will be open throughout the evening, however Wholeslice (at Roots) will not be on site this week but will return next week (3rd July) to take orders for their legendary pizzas.
Saturday will see the 1st XI in derby action as they travel to Gallows Corner to take on Gidea Park & Romford, while the 2nd will be looking to pick up a much needed win when they welcome Epping to Upminster Park. There are big games for the 3rd and 4th XIs as well, with the 3rd XI, who sit in second place at the moment, travelling to leaders Chelmsford and the 4th XI, who have won seven out of seven so far, hosting second place Old Southendians at Coopers.
The biggest game of the weekend will be at Upminster Park on Sunday when the Women’s 1st XI take on Hutton in the EWPL Division One. Upminster are currently second in the table while Hutton come to RM14 having won five out of five to sit top of the pile. The Women’s 2nd XI and Sunday League XI are also in action while there are a number of junior games taking place throughout the day.
