Over the past five week's Upminster's women have been taking part in the Women's Softball Series, a new event launched by Essex Cricket in the Community. The competition took part on a round robin basis, with each of the four clubs in each group playing one another in each round of matches, and each club staging one of those round of games. In Upminster's group were South Woodford, Hutton and Shenfield.

After all games in the West group had been completed Upminster came out on top with 8 wins, 3 losses and a tie (with South Woodford) from their 12 games. Ladies Club Captain Vicki Waters commented on what a great event the new competition had been.

"Everyone who played in the games had a great time and we would like to thank Shenfield, Hutton and South Woodford for their hospitality. And a big thank you to Natalie Samaranayake at Essex who put the whole event together."
