Two superb all round performances from John Curtis and Nicky Ison seal first indoor victory

Upminster Hunters - 103
Broomhill Wanderers - 76/5

The Upminster Hunters defeated Broomhill Wanderers by 27 runs on Sunday to pick up their first win of the 2019 indoor season.

Nicky Ison and John Curtis opened the batting and got the Hunters off to a great start with Ison retiring after 3 overs, hitting two sixes to reach the retirement figure.
John Curtis continued to work the ball around and along with some big hits, soon retired a couple overs later. Similar to last week, the Hunters struggled in the middle overs to keep the board ticking over and soon lost 4 wickets in the hunt for a big score. Curtis and Ison (31) batted out the last 3 overs with Curtis being the last man standing for the final 10 balls. John was eventually run out on the final ball for a very well made 43. Hunters finishing on a respectable 103.

A much improved bowling performance was needed and the quartet duly delivered. John Curtis was at his accurate best, only conceding 6 runs in his 3 over spell and taking the wicket of Carl Lees. He was backed up by Ellis Pickering who also only conceded 13 runs in his 3 overs. The match was won in the 11th over when Nicky Ison bowled 2 Broomhill batsman and a quick stumping by Michael Larke all but sealed the points.
