They may not have been able to seal the deals in the way they had planned, but the 1st, 4th and 6th XIs all secured their divisional titles on Saturday afternoon.

With rain sweeping across the South East of England only a handful of games even started in Essex, and the rain off points picked up by our three title chasing sides meant they all ensured some end of season silverware.

Having led the table from the start of the season, the 1st XI needed just a single point to be crowned champions of Hamro Foundation Essex League Division One, and when their game with Old Southendians was abandoned shortly after midday, without a ball being bowled, the title was secured. Aaron Beard's side have enjoyed a brilliant season, winning 12 of their 17 games so far, whilst losing just twice, and they will now return to the Premier Division for the first time since 2017. They will be joined in the top flight next season by Aztecs or Billericay, who are separated by just a single point with one week remaining, with Upminster facing Aztecs at St Chads Park next Saturday.

The 4th XI have also been dominant in Hamro Foundation Essex League Third XI Division Two, going unbeaten so far, and they collected the six points they needed for the title when their game at Wickford was abandoned around lunchtime. With all games in the division abandoned, including that of nearest challengers Old Southendians, the 4th XI have a 34 point cushion over second place and can enjoy their final game against Benfleet next weekend as they look to remain unbeaten for the entire campaign.

There was a nervous couple of hours for the 6th XI before they learned that they were champions of Mid Essex League Division Nine. The 6s game at Basildon & Pitsea was one of the first to be called off, but that meant had second placed Hatfield Peverel played, and won, then they could have overtaken Upminster at the top of table. However, just before 2.00pm it was confirmed that Peverel's game had been abandoned and Upminster were champions. Having been demoted last season it has been a brilliant effort from Craig Grote's youthful side to bounce back to Division Eight at the first time of asking.

The 2nd XI's abandonment at Ilford means they are guaranteed Premier Division cricket next season while the 3rd XI still have a chance of claiming the runners-up spot next weekend after their contest with Chelmsford at Coopers was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The 5th XI can finish no lower than fourth in their division with one game to play while the 7th XI ended the season with an abandoned game against Horndon on the Hill meaning they finish their season with a sixth place finish.
