BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND AT UCC

BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND AT UCC

Paul Middlemiss

Titles and trophies on the line over long weekend

After the warmest and driest summer in memory it is ironic that the final Bank Holiday weekend of the season looks like it may be disrupted by rain. However, we will be hoping to dodge the showers as there is much still to play for and taking place over the four day weekend.

The first big game of the weekend will come on Friday night when the U14 Ultras visit Belhus in the Central League (4.30pm). Brentwood have already claimed the title but this game is effectively a play off for second place.

Of course, Friday night junior training will be taking place as normal and this will be the penultimate Friday night session of the season.. Wholeslice (at Roots) will once again be on site taking orders for their legendary pizzas while this evening's Premier League football match will be shown live on the screens.

Wholeslice have kindly offered to assist with the disposal of pizza boxes from this week, so once you have finished your pizzas if you could please take your boxes back to the ordering table so they can be disposed of. PLEASE NOTE, ACCESS TO THE PAVILION AND BAR IS FOR MEMBERS ONLY AND YOUR PITCHERO APP WILL NEED TO BE SHOWN TO USE THE FACILITIES.

Saturday will then see three of our senior sides looking to seal their divisional titles having already secured promotion last weekend. The 1st XI welcome Old Southendians to Upminster Park knowing just a single point will secure top spot while the 4th XI travel to Wickford 3rd XI needing six points to claim the title. And just a stone's throw away from that game, the 6th XI will need a maximum of 10 points in their final game of the season against Basildon and Pitsea 5th XI to take the Mid Essex League Division Nine crown.

It will then be the final game of the season for three of our sides on Sunday afternoon. The Women's 1st XI travel to Hutton looking to upset the champions elect while the Women's 2nd XI face Billericay at Coopers and will be hoping to finish their season in style. The Sunday League XI travel to North London to take on Sharks Cricket Academy knowing nothing less than a win will keep their faint title hopes alive.

Back at HQ on Sunday and the club is honoured to be hosting two finals in the CECPG Cup events. At 11.30am our very own U14 Ultras will play Harold Wood in the U14 Cup Final before Hornchurch face Harold Wood in the U17 final at 3.30pm. It should be a great day so please come along to support the event.

There are a number of other junior games taking place on Sunday while on Monday the Women's Softball side (crowned Ballerz Blast champions last week) go to Hornchurch for a festival and our U9 Girls travel to Witham CC to take part in their funday and festival.
