BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND AT UCC

BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND AT UCC

Paul Middlemiss20 May - 09:42

Packed four-day calendar with the sun set to shine

It promises to be an action-packed Bank Holiday Weekend at Upminster Park, with four days of cricket action on the pitch and plenty to enjoy off it.

Friday Night will see junior training taking place as normal before at 7.00pm the 2026 Windmill Whack Women’s Edition commences. Burley Bandits will take on the Howden Heat while the Mullis & Peake Magic face-off against 2025 champions Root 66-ers. And talking of Roots, as on all Fridays, pizzas from Whole Slice (at Roots) will be available on site from 5.30pm at £10 a pizza (cash or card taken).

Saturday will see the 1st XI welcome Orsett and Thurrock to Upminster Park for a Division One contest. Upminster have won their opening two league contests this season, while Orsett, who will likely include West Indies batter Kieran Powell in their line-up, have won one and lost one so far.

Following the game there will be musical entertainment from legendary club Vice President Dave Foss, as part of his band Double Deez. Tickets for what promises to be a great evening can be purchased here.

Sunday sees a number of junior games taking place across all age groups, including an U7s KWIK Cricket Festival at Upminster Park from 11.00am. In the afternoon, our women’s sides are back in action with the 1st XI travelling to Bishop’s Stortford in Division One and the 2nd XI entertaining Frenford at Coopers School in Division Two (both games begin at 1.00pm). The Pavilion will also be open throughout the afternoon at Upminster Park to show the final games of the Premier League season as West Ham and Tottenham scramble to avoid relegation.

And then on Monday there is a day of T20 action to look forward to at Upminster Park as the club hosts one of four groups in the Dukes Essex League T20. Upminster will take on Hadleigh & Thundersley in the first game of the day at 10.00am before Premier Division Chelmsford face Gidea Park & Romford at 1.00pm. The two winners will then play off for a place at Finals Day at 4.00pm. There will be refreshments available on site throughout the day, including breakfast rolls and pizzas from Whole Slice (at Roots).

We hope to see many members, junior players and junior parents at the club over the weekend, and we ask that everyone plays their part in making the weekend run smoothly by placing litter in the bins provided, returning glasses to the bar and respecting bar staff and other club officials at all times.
