Final double header before Finals Day, with two crucial games taking place

It's the final double header of the group stages of WW III this Sunday, and two crucial games will take place. Two further group games will still need to be completed after Sunday, but we should have a lot clearer picture of the Finals Day line up by the end of this weekend.

At 1.00pm the Root 66ers will take on the Apple Finance Firebirds and the qualifying permutations are numerous for this contest. A win for the Roots will see them guaranteed a spot in the Final Three and a defeat for the Birds will see them exit the competition. A Birds win will see them then waiting on other results to see if they make Finals Day for the first time, while a Roots defeat will see them needing a win from their final game to guarantee progress.

The 4.00pm game between the Chairman's Choice and the Kushoom Tigers only has serious consequences for one side. The Choice have been soundly beaten in all four contests to date and are out of the competition. They have little but pride to play for and even a win may not be enough to avoid the wooden spoon. For the Tigers, a victory would guarantee them a place at the August 26th finale, while even a defeat may not stop the Kushoom Bugh bandwagon from rolling on. Ant Limn and his array of ex players and imports won't want to leave anything to chance though and will be looking to continue their winning streak against the Choice.

The bar will be open all afternoon and the sun looks set to shine once more, so why not head over to Upminster Park to take in the action.
