Derek delivers again and closes in on Woods

Windmill Walk legend Derek Petrie claimed his second weekly title as he topped the Week 9 individual leader board. Petrie completed over 184k steps (the second highest weekly total behind Josh Lamont’s Week 4 score) to claim top spot for the second time. Overall leader John Woods was second for the week with Alison Cross in third, Kerry Hodges in fourth and Angela Green in fifth. U10s Girls Manager Katy Barrett finished sixth and Jordan Tolan was one place further back. All this meant Woods retained his overall lead with Petrie, Hodges and Green hot on his heels. Angela Ueckermann completes the current top five.

18 competitors have now passed the one million steps mark, with early leader Billy Wright also looking set to reach that landmark over the coming weekend. Special mention must go to Angela Green who walked/ran 144 miles in February and raised £735 for Cancer Research UK in the process.

In the team event there was a sense of familiarity at the top of the table. The weekly honours this week went to the Ace Avengers who finished ahead of the Chairman’s Choice and the Kushoom Bugh Tigers, with the Sharks in fourth and the Phoenix in fifth. The Tigers though retain the overall lead with the Avengers not far behind and the Choice in third.

The Windmill Walk began on New Years Day with the aim of getting all 222 participants to walk one million steps by the first weekend of the league season.
