20th/21st June Review

The weather was the main winner on Saturday causing abandonments in 5 of the 6 matches played. The third eleven however beat the weather and earned their 2nd win a row with victory at Coopers over Shenfield. Oliver Peck took 5/31 to dismiss the visitors for 158. In reply in a race against the rain some big hitting by Paul Middlemiss (80*), Jordan Tigg (25) and Peck (23) saw the total chased down in 21 overs. (Scorecard)

The 1st XI game was abandoned after 25 overs with Harlow on 121/4 (Scorecard)

The 2nd XI scored 221/8 after a delayed start against Wanstead with Jack O'Dowd, Alex Ward and Adam Quested all contributing. The rain returned at tea to end the game. (Scorecard)

Nathan Smith hit 61 as the 4th XI made a brisk start at South Woodford. The good work was undone though as the 4s slipped from 90/1 to 122/6 Steve Limn and Ollie White started the recovery whilst late hitting by Josh Lamont boosted the total to 244. South Woodford lost 3 wickets in reply before rain again caused an abandonment. (Scorecard)

The 5th XI game lasted only 28 overs with Upminster on 108/2 (Scorecard) whilst the 6s game at Campion had just started the 2nd innings before rain ended the match. (Scorecard)

On Sunday the 1st XI played Belhus in the Sunday League, after a good start Belhus were reduced to 85/3 and 122/6. Ross Poulton along with the lower order led the recovery for Belhus hitting 93 off just 44 balls boosting the total to 303/9. In reply Frankie Hazel (57) and Nathan Smith made starts but once they were dismissed Upminster slipped to 164 all out. (Scorecard)

The Sunday 2s enjoyed a timed friendly at North Weald. Batting first Upminster reached 179/8, In reply the wickets were shared around as Weald were dismissed for 79 but only 5 overs away from a draw. (Scorecard)
