Bannister and Daniels to make Benefit Match debuts in September 2nd clash

Upminster have named a 12 man squad to take on an Essex CCC XI in the annual Benefit Match contest on Sunday 2nd September.

Nicky Ison will captain the side which will contain four Benefit Match debutants. First team seamer Ejaz Khan, who has enjoyed an excellent first season with the club, will make his maiden appearance in the fixture, and he will be joined by Nabeel Aziz who has been a regular in the 1st XI this term.

Meanwhile Rob Bannister and Tom Daniels will also make their debuts. Daniels, who has come through the club's famed youth system, is rewarded for an excellent season which has seen him progress to the 2nd XI, while also making the first century of his career in a recent Sunday fixture. Bannister has been a stalwart of the club's committee for many years now, taking on numerous roles, and is currently Vice Chairman. Bannister normally spends the Benefit Match working hard behind the scenes to ensure the day runs smoothly but will this year be looking to make an impression on the pitch.

Benefit Match veterans John Curtis and Shaffiq Rahman are also in the squad while youngsters Louis Pickering and Kiran Kullar will be looking to impress.

The full squad is as follows:

Nicky Ison (capt)
Shahbaz Butt
Farid Butt
Louis Pickering
Alan Ison
Kiran Kullar
Tom Daniels
Shaffiq Rahman
Nabeel Aziz
Ejaz Khan
Rob Bannister
John Curtis

This Year's match will be a T20 contest, beginning at 3pm. Entrance to the game is by programme, now available at £2.50 each.

Other action will take place from 11.00am and refreshments will be available from midday.
