Zoe Quested will take over as captain of the Women’s 1st XI for the 2024 season as the side embark on a new era in Division 1 of the Essex Women’s League. Quested was a member at Upminster for much of her younger years as a cricketer, before making the switch to Harold Wood where she enjoyed great success with bat and ball. She re-joined her hometown club in 2023 and was an influential member of the team which finished third in the Division 2 table last term. Quested will be supported by vice-captain Lois Gable who has enjoyed two excellent seasons in our older girls sides and moved into senior cricket last year. The side’s first competitive game of the season will be in the T20 National Cup on 21st April when they make the short tip to Hutton, and it’s roles reversed a week later when they welcome the same opposition to Upminster Park for their opening league encounter.

The 2nd XI will also be playing league cricket in 2024, and they will be led in their Division 3 campaign by Angela Green. Angela has been instrumental in the success of women’s and girls cricket at the club in recent seasons and she will be hoping a number of our promising young players can progress into senior cricket in 2024. Supporting Angela will be vice-captain Lauren Plumb, who is another of our young players to have shone in a number of girls competitions in recent seasons. The 2nd XI will begin their league season on 28th April when they take on Billericay at the Toby Howe Memorial Ground.

The club will also once again be entering the Essex Women’s Softball League, where they have enjoyed huge success in the last two years. That side will also be led by Angela Green with Jami Armes in the role of vice-captain.
