Real team performance sees side pick up first victory at third time of asking

Billy Wright’s Tandoori Boys picked up their first win of the season on Sunday with a two wicket win over St Johns. Captain Wright won the toss and asked St Johns to bat first. Ian Munn and Nathan Bright picked up a wicket apiece early on to put St Johns on the back foot, and the captain and Ryan Brown then bowled impressively in the later overs to keep their side on top. Brown picked up two wickets for his side and despite 21 from Anil Kumar, St Johns were dismissed for 76 with a ball of their innings remaining.

Wright and Paul Middlemiss started the Upminster chase well but when they fell the innings stalled for some time. However, youngster Nathan Brown batted well for a top score of 16, and although he fell before the end Ryan Brown and Bright kept their nerve to see their side to victory.

The Tandoori Boys are in action again next Sunday when they take on leaders Great Waltham at Ingatestone at 8.00pm, and before that the Hunters are in action as they face Writtle at 7.00pm at the same venue.
