3rd XI and 5th XI pick up wins.

NO LUCKY EIGHT FOR ISONS MEN

Alan Ison’s 1st XI fell to their first defeat in eight league games after being bowled out by Hadleigh and Thundersley for 110 as they attempted to chase down 149. The table-toppers bowled out Hadleigh in 41 overs with the spin duo of Matt Tigg and Connor Whetstone continuing their blossoming partnership, both picking up three wickets. In reply, Upminster were skittled out for 110, Frankie Hazle top-scoring with 39 but no other batsman got a score of note.

The 2nd XI fell to a 100-run defeat at the hands of Chelmsford over Upminster Park on Saturday. James Gerritse, a mid-week signing from Ludlow & South Shropshire CC impressed on his debut and finished with 4-26 off his 8 overs. The rest of the attack found it hard to contain the free scoring Miles Clark (94) as Chelmsford posted 247 in their 45 overs.
Rob Waghorn top-scored for Upminster with a patient 29 but with the majority of the batsman getting in between 10-20, it was never enough as Upminster we bowled out for 147.

Upminster 3rd XI defeated Loughton on Saturday thanks to an elegant 54* from Mark Schofield. He found great support in Peter Thompson (52) and Alfie James (37) as Upminster chased down 188 with 9 overs to spare. Earlier in the game, Karim Govani, Oliver White and Mark D’Cruz all picked up two wickets to reduce Loughton to 187/8 in their 45 overs.

Steve Limn’s 4th XI suffered a 76 run defeat away to Harold Wood on Saturday. Steve elected to field first and watched Harold Wood notch up a big 252/5 in their 45 overs. Upminster failed to get going in their chase and was bowled out for 176 in their 37.5 overs.

Upminster 5th XI picked up an easy win, defeating Loughton by 216 runs on Saturday. Half-centuries for Scott Fisher (58) and Alex Halliwell (59) was the highlight of the day. Only 7 Loughton players batted and they were quickly dealt with inside 11 overs for 25 as Jamie Squance picked up 3 wickets.

Lewis Baker and Will Frost put in fantastic performances for the 6th XI in their defeat on Saturday. Lewis took 3-21 in his 9 overs with Will Frost and Joe Tyler also taking a brace. Batting at No.9 , a valiant 41 from Will Frost including 7 boundaries was the best knock of the innings as the 6th XI were bowled out for 125.

Sunday

Sunday was a great day for two 12 year old batsman as Ellis Pickering and Nathan Brown showed some great potential with two fantastic knocks. In the morning Ellis Pickering smashed 72 in the Peter Coe Cup tie against Bancroft Lions. The Sunday 2nd XI was put into field after spending the previous hour having a lovely pub lunch in the General Arms. Little Baddow made 236 in their 40 overs with Ant Limn picking up three wickets. Batting at No.3, Nathan Brown showed a stoic defence as he lasted 81 balls, scoring 27 with 3 boundaries. Nicky Ison made a quick 56 and a late onslaught from Julian Whetstone (54) wasn’t enough as he was bowled last ball as the match finished in a tie.
