Tigg's men slip to slender loss, while 2nd XI cement third place

It was a tough defeat to take for the 1st XI as they fell to a three wicket loss at Shenfield on Saturday. Shahbaz made 68 for the visitors but they fell to 136-8 at one stage, before an excellent 9th wicket partnership. Captain Tigg (33) and Conor Whetstone (49) put on 81 to help their team climb to a competitive 224.

In reply Shenfield reached 43 without loss before Whetstone and Alex Kirkpatrick picked up two wickets each as the home side collapsed to 79-6. Matt Salisbury and Ryan Plom rebuilt the innings but when Tigg removed Salisbury Shenfield still required 84. However, Plom (75*) and Tom Ballington (50*) batted superbly to take their side to a three wicket win with three overs to spare. (Scorecard)

At Upminster Park the 2nd XI maintained their grip on 3rd place with a comfortable win over Woodford Wells. Andrew Berry, Nicky Ison and captain Ollie Peck picked up three wickets each as Wells were rolled out for 118. Umar Ashraf top scored for the visitors with an unbeaten 31. Kiran Kullar (42*) and Harry Jenkins (43) then wasted no time in helping steer their Team to a seven wicket win. (Scorecard)

The 3rd XI fell to defeat at Hainault and Clayhall after a poor performance with the bat. Josh Lamont (42) top scored for the visitors but with only Nikhil Mayor and Tom Daniels offering much support they were all out for 113. Mark D'Cruz struck early in the Hainault reply, on his way to picking up four wickets, and Upminster battled hard, but it was not enough to stop Hainault recording a four wicket victory. (Scorecard)

There was no game for the 4th XI this week but there was a thrilling win for the 5th XI. They dismissed West Essex for exactly 100 but then lost wickets regularly during their chase. However, the last wicket pair held their nerve to reduce the total required and with 2 runs to win off the final ball they saw their side over the line!!! (Scorecard)

The 6th XI were also without a game while the Sunday 2nd XI recorded a comfortable win at East Hanningfield and Great Burstead. There were runs for Dave Brown, Nicky Ison and Billy Wright while Kevin Roome and Ryan Brown picked up three wickets apiece. (Scorecard)
