Upminster Cricket Club were saddened to hear of the passing of Vice President and former player Mike Pettit over the Christmas period.
Mike was a steady batsman and occasional leg spin bowler during his time playing for the 1st and 2nd XIs in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Off the pitch he was an excellent club member, taking on many off field roles during and after his playing days, and he was a big influence on the colts section in the late 1980s where he encouraged many youngsters, some still playing senior cricket today, to take up the game.
In recent years Mike was made a Vice President of the Club. Everyone associated with Upminster Cricket Club would like to pass on their condolences to Mike’s family at this time.
The funeral will take place at the South Essex Crematorium, Upminster, on Tuesday 23rd January, at 1.20pm.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to charity in memory of Mike should send cheques payable to the Royal Lifeboat Institution to:
