Success for U11 and U14/U15 sides as well

Upminster's Indoor side stayed in the hunt for the Riverside Indoor League Premier Division title, after a three wicket win over Wickford on Sunday.

A somewhat lacklustre performance with the ball allowed previously unbeaten Wickford to make 121 in their innings, as they were bowled out with one ball remaining. Skipper Danny Pryke made 41 for Wickford, while John Curtis (2-17) was the pick of the Upminster bowlers.

In reply Adam Quested and Louis Pickering made a good start and both reached the retirement mark, but Upminster were slipping behind the rate after 8 of their 12 overs. However, Ollie Peck and Nick Ison found the back wall four times in two overs, and while Peck had to retire at that point, Pickering joined Ison and they saw Upminster home with eight balls to spare. Meanwhile, the U11s have reached the semi finals of the Essex Indoor competition after victory in their final group game. They knew victory against Brentwood in their last group fixture would see them through to the knockout stages, and they put in their best performance of the season to win by 78 runs and advance to the last four. The U14/U15 side stayed in contention for the runners-up spot in the Metropolitan Indoor League with a win against Barking on Friday night. Upminster made 106 from their allocation of overs and then dismissed Barking for 56, to win by 50 runs. They have one fixture remaining to be played.
