Three wins on Saturday but losses in both Sunday fixtures

It was a mixed weekend for the Club's Senior sides, with 3 wins, 4 losses and a draw from 8 games played.

After a brilliant start to the season the 1st XI were well beaten by Chingford in their first league match since returning to the Premier Division. Put into bat they struggled against former UCC fitness coach Ryan Harris, and despite 33 from Shabaz a total of 110 was never going to be enough. John Curtis picked up a wicket in reply but Chingford won by nine wickets. Scorecard

The 2nd XI had the better of a draw with Shenfield at Upminster Park. A wonderful century from Farid Butt (118) and useful contributions from Terry Wyatt and Nathan Woods helped Upminster to reach 243-9. Max Carter Miller impressed with the ball early in the Shenfield reply (2-59), but despite three wickets from skipper Ollie Peck, Shenfield were able to play out for the draw at 159-7. Scorecard

The first league winners of the season were the 3rd XI who beat Hutton by five wickets at the Polo Ground. The four man attack of the White Brothers, D'Cruz and Soomro picked up two wickets each, and they were backed up by an excellent fielding display as Hutton were restricted to 140-9. Paul Middlemiss, Rob Waghorn and Steve Limn then all made useful contributions as Upminster cruised to victory. Scorecard

The 4th XI were also winners as they overcame Orsett and Thurrock. Upminster looked in trouble at 84-5 but Anthony Limn (59) and youngster Ellis Pickering (27) led the fightback and the home side were able to make 177. The evergreen Karim Govani then took over as his 5-23 helped dismiss the visitors for 125. (Scorecard)
