Due to the recent bad weather this year’s CricketForce will be spread over a number of weekends

To all members,

Due to the recent bad weather, which has resulted in the delay in pre-season work to all grounds, it is proposed that this year’s CricketForce will be spread over a number of weekends in a bid to get all three grounds ready for the season ahead.

After some work was completed at Coopers over the Easter weekend, it has not been possible to roll the square. Mark D’cruz is organising a rota to undertake some rolling when the wicket has dried sufficiently, so if you can operate the roller (it is very easy) and have a few hours to spare (weekends or evening), then please get in touch with Mark or myself.

This weekend, our Chairman and 5th Team captain Karim Govani will be meeting with Campion school to assess when we can get onto the square and complete some work. Again, depending on the weather, we will need volunteers to help out in the coming weeks to prepare and roll the wicket, so if you can spare some time, please contact Karim or myself.

Finally, although this year we have a new groundsman, who is doing his best to prepare for the season at HQ, there are other tasks that need undertaking at the club, including tidying the storage containers; tidying and de-weeding both net cages; painting the exterior of the pavilion; fixing the sight screen wheels and other ad hoc jobs that need completing. It is proposed that work at the main ground will be undertaken on Saturday 14th April 2018 from 9am. I am aware that this is the morning after the pre-season dinner and there will be a few dusty heads, however I would encourage all members to make some form of effort in helping to prepare for the coming season. If everyone gives a couple of hours, then the work will be completed quickly. Please don’t leave it to others. After all, we all use at least one of these facilities.

Thank you in advance for your on-going support and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Regards

Bobby Mack

House and Grounds Secretary
