Poor batting display sees Woodham Mortimer coast to easy win

A poor batting display from the Upminster Hunters saw them slip to defeat against Woodham Mortimer at Ingatestone on Sunday evening.

Upminster batted first and saw their powerful batting line up ripped apart by Ollie Glasson and Toby Pateman as Nick Ison’s side slipped to 24-3. The captain did provide some fightback in the middle order with 17, but he could not halt the slide and Upminster were bowled out for 47 with nearly two overs unused.

Jack Preston and Mark Beames made a solid start for Mortimer as they chased victory, and although Louis Pickering dismissed Preston, and John Curtis bowled a typically tight spell it was not enough as Dan Smith joined Beames and they saw their side to a five wicket win.

The Hunters are without a game this weekend, but the Tandoori Boys are in action once more as they take on St Johns at Ingatestone.
