Champions open the tournament against Evans' Firebirds before the Roots take on the Kings

The 2017 Windmill Whack competition begins on Monday with a double header at Upminster Park.

The competition opens with 2016 champions, The Chairmans Choice, taking on the Apple Finance Firebirds. Both franchises have strengthened their squads for 2017, and the Firebirds, led by James Evans, will be looking to improve on last year's bottom place finish. The two sides face off at 1.00pm.

Following that encounter, last season's runners-up, The Root 66ers, will square up to the Kalijeera Kings in an eagerly anticipated clash. The Kings began the 2016 competition in good form before fading towards the end of the group stages, while the Roots reached last year's grand final where they were beaten by the Choice. Both sides will be looking to get their campaigns off to a positive start at 4.00pm.
