ANOTHER LEAGUE WIN BUT GET HUMILIATED BY CHELMSFORD

Alan Isons 1st XI made it five league wins a row in a rain effected game over Woodford Wells. Upminster won the toss and elected to bat first over Monkhams Lane but lost opener Shafiq Rahman early. Shahbaz Butt made 56 at the top of the order but it was the strong middle order that did the bulk of the scoring. James Aggio-Brewe, Terry Wyatt and Connor Whetstone all made thirties which propelled Upminster to 243 in 49.4 overs. Woodford Wells were set a Duckworth Lewis target but once they completed the minimum amount of overs for a match to be not declared abandoned, the heavens opened and they finished 10 runs behind which resulted in Upminster picking up the victory.

All other Saturday teams were abandoned.

Upminster was defeated by Chelmsford in the 3rd round of the League Cup on Sunday. In the first eight balls of the innings, Upminster lost three wickets of Butt, Hazle and Alan Ison. Birthday boy John Curtis was the only batsman to get going as he was left stranded not out on 32, 68 runs short of his maiden century. Upminster was bowled out for 82 in 29.2 overs with Oliver White being the last man out.

Chelmsford made light work of the chase but the highlight for Upminster was a superb 5 over spell from Oliver White, which he rounded off by clean bowling Chris Prowting.
