Willingale come out on top in closely fought contest

Upminster remain top of the Riverside Indoor League table despite a three wicket defeat to Willingale on Sunday evening.

Captain Billy Wright won the toss and elected to bat, and he saw his openers make a solid if somewhat un-spectactular start, with Adam Quested reaching the retirement mark. Dangerman Louis Pickering fell for 14 before John Curtis upped the ante finding the back wall three times. Quested returned for the last two balls of the innings but Upminster's total of 88-4 always seemed a little under par.

Quested took a stunning leg side catch early in the "Gale" reply, and Kiran Kullar and the captain also struck as the chasers slipped to 36-3. Paul Green reached the retirement mark though, and Steve Stammers and Jack Silvester kept their nerve to see their side home with seven balls to spare.
