Havering Hurricanes qualify for London Youth Games Indoor Cricket Finals Day

Through to the Finals Day to be held at Lords on 26th February

Havering Hurricanes have qualified for the London Youth Games Indoor Cricket Finals Day at Lords on 26th February. In the first game Havering beat Westminster with Ellis Pickering staring with bat and ball. He was well supported by Jai Mayor and Josh Mason who bowled with great control to limit Westminster to just 49 off their 10 overs. Ellis and Jai made lightwork of the reply, chasing down 49 in 2.4 overs.

Haverings final game in the group was against the strong Harrow borough. Ellis elected to bowl first and Harrow got off to a decent start, regularly scoring at ten an over. Havering picked up five wickets with Ellis Pickering producing two runs out, Josh Mason picking up one and Hornchurch Athletics Nathan Duke collecting two. Nathan Brown also proving a great asset behind the stumps with some tidy glovework with Liam Purton from Gidea Park saving plenty of runs in the field. Harrow set Havering 110 to win to qualify for finals day.

Against a very strong bowling attack, Havering got off to a decent start at eight an over of the first three overs. Ellis Pickering soon let loose with a couples sixes to retire. Jai Mayor continued the scoring rate before he was unluckily run out. Nathan Duke played a crucial knock and quickly retired in a few overs. Havering was left needing 29 off 2 overs. Ellis and Nathan came back onto the pitch but both were soon dismissed after adding another ten runs. Last man standing Josh Mason needed to score 12 off 5 balls and he kept finding the corner every ball, with two needed off the final ball, he pushed the ball onto the leg side to complete a fantastic victory.
