Nick Browne will skipper side and be joined by opening bowlers

Nick Browne has been confirmed as captain of the Essex CCC XI for this Sunday's Benefit Match at Upminster Park. Nick skippered the Essex side last year and is a Trustee of the Essex Cricket Foundation, for which Sunday's game is being played. Nick started his career with South Woodford CC and is well known to everyone at Upminster as a member of the South Woodford U16 side who beat Upminster in the 2017 Matchplay Final. He has been a great supporter of our Benefit Matches for many years and we are delighted he will be coming to Upminster Park once again.

Joining Nick will be opening bowler Jamie Porter. Jamie has been the leading seam bowler on the County circuit for the last two seasons, and has been included in three Test Match squads this summer for England's games against India. Jamie came through the Essex League system, most recently playing for Chingford, and we can't wait to see him at Upminster this weekend.

Jamie's opening bowling partner Sam Cook will also be in the Essex squad and is set to make his second appearance in this fixture after playing in 2017. Sam has burst on to the scene in the last 18 months and played a huge part in the County's recent successes. We look forward to seeing him at Upminster Park again this Sunday.

More players will be announced through the week.
