It could be one of the most exciting days of the season this Sunday, as the Club goes in search of glory on three fronts.
Pride of place goes to the 1st XI who will make their second appearance in the Essex T20 Finals Day at Billericay CC. They have brushed aside Hutton, Colchester, Shenfield and Brentwood to reach this stage, and will face one of Westcliff, Buckhurst Hill, Wanstead or South Woodford in their semi final which will begin at 11.00am. Should the side win this game they will progress to the final which will take place at 3.00pm.
Entrance to the ground on the day is FREE, refreshments will be available and all support for the team will be much appreciated. Coach travel is available for anyone wanting to go and watch, priced at £8 for a return journey, and this will leave the Windmill Hall at 9.15am. If you would like to book a place on the coach please contact Mike Rath or e-mail

Meanwhile at Upminster Park, Ted Green's U13 side will be looking to reach the semi finals of the Peter Coe Cup for the first time in the Club's history. Having won all of their group games so far, Upminster know one more win against old friends and rivals Gidea Park will see them through to the last four. The game starts at 2.00pm, and anyone who cannot make it to Billericay is encouraged to go along and lend their support.
And last, but by no means least, the Sunday 2nd XI continue their late push for promotion in the Essex Sunday League, with a short trip down the A127 to face Basildon and Pitsea. Scott Hammond's side have won their last three games to push them up to 3rd in the table, and know that nothing less than 18 points will keep them in the hunt for promotion to the Premier Division. |

It was another positive weekend results-wise, with just two defeats for all of our senior sides across the two days.
On Saturday the 1st XI picked up a valuable draw with Colchester. Runs for James Evans and Akbar Jabhar helped Upminster to reach 281 for 9 from their 64 overs. The visitors' reply was held up twice by rain, making a positive result either way impossible, and Colchester finished on 163 for 4 when play ended, Naeem Iqbal picking up two wickets. The result moved Upminster out of the bottom two in the Premier Division table.
The 2nd XI suffered a heavy defeat in their game at Fives and Heronians. An under-strength side were shot out for 118, with only Paul Bussey and Rob Back making a meaningful contribution. In reply Chris Ryan and Daniel Tyler picked up an early wicket each to put some pressure on the home side, but Nick Rostey struck a rapid 51 not out to lead Fives to an 8 wicket victory.
Chris Cully's 3rd XI moved out of the relegation zone in the Premier Division with a tense victory over Harold Wood. Wood were bowled out for 162 and Upminster collapsed to 80-6 in reply. However, Scott Hammond and Pat Cully combined to steer Upminster to the brink of victory before the rain came!! However, when the rain ceased two more overs were possible and Upminster were able to complete a four wicket victory. The 4th XI stayed on course for their 4th promotion in 5 seasons with a 2 wicket win over Wickford 3s at Coopers. Set 179 for victory they scraped home by two wickets to hold on to their advantage at the top of the table.
It was a bad day at the office for the 5th XI as they were well beaten by South Woodford 4s. South wracked up 246-6 in their 52 overs, despite four wickets from David Staples. In reply none of the top eight managed to reach double figures, and but for Phil Hammond (18) and Will Bottoms (17*) it could have been even worse than the 71 all out they recorded.
The 6th XI took a giant step towards avoiding the drop with a nine wicket win over Leigh on Sea. Frankie Hazel was the hero for Upminster recording his second unbeaten half century in three games. He also had good support from Pete Cox and Matt Tilbury as they eased home with time and wickets in hand.
On Sunday, the 2nd XI were to strong for Leigh on Sea as they wracked up 331 from 40 overs in their Sunday League clash at Upminster Park. In reply Leigh were bowled out for 163. The Academy side had to settle for a draw in their game at Brentwood after a swarm of flying ants caused the game to be called to a halt early!!! Upminster had earlier made 196.
And the U13s continued their impressive form with an easy victory over Newham CC in the Len Stentiford Cup. |

It's a crucial weekend for many of Upminster's sides as the end of the season fast approaches.
The 1st XI entertain Colchester and East Essex at Upminster Park (11.30am) and will be looking for valuable points in their bid to avoid the drop. Upminster are on a 3 match unbeaten run and will hope this continues. The sides have already met three times this season, with the North Essex side winning the League Cup and League encounters, while Upminster came out on top in the T20 encounter as they marched towards the Finals Day.
Dan Tyler takes his 2nd XI to Fives and Heronians (1.00pm) for their latest Premier Division clash. Tyler's men rose to 4th in the table after last week's thrashing of Wanstead, while Fives sit one place below them after a high scoring draw with Chingford last time out.
A win would be most welcome for the 3rd XI as they make the short journey down Hall Lane to face Harold Wood (1.00pm). Chris Cully's side were well beaten by Wanstead last week, and slipped into the bottom two. However, they only trail 7th placed Wood by 6 points so this is a crucial encounter. The 4th XI welcome Wickford 3s to Coopers (1.00pm) as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the table. Will Sissen's men are chasing a 4th promotion in 5 years and a victory here would be another step towards that.
Two wins in two weeks have not yet lifted the 5th XI out of the relegation zone, but they know a win over fellow strugglers South Woodford 4s would almost certainly do so. Paul Stratton and skipper Karim Govani have been in good form in recent weeks, and they will hope this continues in this important clash (1.00pm). Meanwhile Paul Scott's 6th XI will also be hoping to build on their good form of the last two weeks when they play Leigh on Sea 4s at Coopers School (1.00pm). The 7th XI are without a game this weekend.
Sunday sees the 2nd XI continue their late promotion push in the Sunday League when they play Leigh on Sea in an East Division encounter at Upminster Park (2.00pm). Also on Sunday, Ollie Peck leads the Academy side in their latest game at Brentwood (2.00pm). |
