The 2011 season got underway in positive fashion with wins for the Sunday 1st & 2nd XI's.

The 1st XI traveled to Sawbridgeworth and won by 8 wickets, with Oliver Peck taking 3/36 as Sawbridgewoth slipped from 111/2 to 179/9. In reply the runs were knocked off within 33 overs with Andrew 'Elliot' D'Cruz hitting 80 and Harry 'J' Jenkins 52*.

The 2nd XI started their season in the traditional surroundings of Theydon Bois, defeating their hosts by 5 wickets. Scott Dowler bowled well for his 3/31, whilst Rob Waghorn hit a composed 88 with Nathan Woods contributing a quickfire 40.

HAVERING INDOOR LEAGUE - LATEST RESULTS

Upminster's 'B' side moved away from the relegation zone in Division 2 thanks to a comfortable victory over Rainham 'B' on Sunday.  Excellent bowling from youngster Will Chuter, Adam Quested and Scott Fisher, along with some fine fielding from Nicky Ison, restricted Rainham to 74-5 in their 12 overs.  In reply 25 not out each from Paul Middlemiss and skipper Alan Ison put Upminster on the brink of victory, before Chuter and Quested saw them home for the loss of just one wicket.  The side face Seven Kings 'B' in their next game.

The 'A' side slipped to defeat against Rainham 'A' in their latest game.  However, they remain in contention for the Division 1 title, and are just two points behind the leaders.  They face Ardleigh Green 'A' in their next fixture, this Sunday.

NATWEST CRICKETFORCE - WEEKEND OF 27th and 28th MARCH

The weekend for the 2010 Natwest CricketForce is moving towards us quickly!!!

CricketForce encourages cricket supporters, club members, friends and families to give something back to their local cricket club by volunteering to take part in works to improve the ground, practice facilities and clubhouse.

In past years Upminster Cricket Club have carried out major works on and around the ground during CricketForce.  These include a new patio outside the clubhouse, interior and exterior painting of the clubhouse, start of work on the net facilities next to the clubhouse, improvements to net facilities next to the tennis courts, work on sightscreens and improvements to the changing rooms.  This led to the Club being the "National Launch Club" for Natwest CricketForce in 2006, with England stars Alistair Cook and Monty Panesar visiting the Club to help with the work.

Once again in 2010, there are several tasks which need to be completed during this weekend, so everything is ready for the start of the 2010 season. So if you can spare an hour or two (or a bit longer), then please come to the clubhouse at any time from 10am on either the Saturday or the Sunday. If you have any equipment which you feel may be of use (tools, ladders, shovels etc) then please bring these with you, as they may well be of use.
