UPMINSTER A vs RAINHAM A

Upminster A took on Rainham A on Sunday in the third indoor game of the winter season. A team depleted by a certain curry event batted first against an experienced Rainham side. UCC Colt of the Year Frankie Hazel returning to the team after a long injury lay off, opened the batting with Will Chuter and got Upminster off to a circumspect start. Good accurate bowling from Rainham as Upminster crept along to 12/0 off 5 overs. Trying to up the rate, Chuter was the first go driving to mid-off. Hazel soon walked back to the bench, bowled for 3. Ison and Fisher tried to get things going but Upminster never got the innings above 5 an over. Upminster struggling at 35/2 off 9 overs. Ison departed for 14 next over, Sam Crotch also falling very first ball. Fisher and the experienced Craig Chuter made sure Upminster batted the fall 12 overs, finishing on 50-5.

Atkins and Foster opened the batting an started brightly with some quick running as the Upminster bowled struggled to find their line. Atkins working the ball round expertly to frustrate Upminster. The only wicket to fall was in the 5th over when Will Chuter struck to get rid of Foster for 18. Craig helping out his son by taking a ridiculous one handed catch of the ceiling. Will the only bowler to hit his straps in his two overs finishing with 1-4. Rainham won the game in the 9th over. Another tough game for the young A team. A change of form after Xmas will be crucial.

Upminster A- N.Ison (c) (14,0-9) S.Fisher (wk) (15*. 0b) W.Chuter (2,1-4) C.Chuter (3,0-10.1ct) Sam C (0,0-12) F Hazel (3,0-12)
